Reflections on Day 1 of CIEP 2020.

Day 1 of #CIEP2020. What a mood boost ๐Ÿ˜

Loved meeting other fiction editors in the networking session this morning. Top folk!

This afternoon’s session on style sheets was illuminating. I use them for all my edits yet it was really valuable to see how other people approach them. It’s made me think about a few possibilities for streamlining the process. Winner.

I need to catch up on Erin Brenner’s marketing webinar. I’ll do that later this week.

๐Ÿ˜‰ Very much enjoyed the ‘conference facilities’ this year. Had a lunch of goats cheese and cranberry muffin and I even had time for an 11th hour, pre-lockdown swim!

There’s something to be said for virtual conferences. Don’t get me wrong, I do like people. But I also love the ease of joining a global network from the comfort of my home office, or the car park of the Victoria Hospital in Morecambe…

I’ll explain. Classic 2020 multitasking: listening to a networking event while driving your other half to an appointment, and not missing a beat. Heard the breakout group saying ‘Claire… Are you there…?’ through my Bluetooth speakers as I threw my car into a parking space at the hospital and rejoined the meeting once the handbrake was on! ๐Ÿ˜†

Looking forward to day 2!
