How do I get some work with traditional publishers?

👋 Hey, publishers. I’m Claire. Nice to make your acquaintance.

[That’s not how I started my emails. Perhaps I should have…]

As per my November targets, I’ve contacted four traditional publishers to try to get some freelance proofreading/copyediting work.

So far, that’s two education publishers and two fiction ones.

There are LOADS listed in this amazing resource. This may take me some time. But at least I’ve made a start.

I’m known as an editor for indies.

1.7 million words for indies to date.

But I’d like to get a bit of experience in the trad world too.

I’ve done industry-approved training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. Five courses, in fact.

I can even use those BSI marks, too.

😆 Surely that’s a shoo-in.

Looking forward to playing my part in the workflow of the traditional publishing process.

When I’m asked for a proofread, it will actually be a proofread. A typeset text. Imagine!

When I’m asked to copyedit, there’ll be a proofreading stage to follow.

It’ll be good to see how it all fits together.

🤞 Here’s hoping I get a bit of interest.

Wish me luck.
