I can help you fix your story.

Why am I lost? Why am I confused? Why am I experiencing incredulity?

Something I love about being involved in books in their earlier stages is that I get to react as a reader – 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑑𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑡.

Developmental work, whether that’s in the form of a manuscript assessment, coaching work, or a full developmental edit, allows me to communicate with writers what’s not quite working – 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤ℎ𝑦 – but, more importantly, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 we can go about fixing it.

And, goodness me, it’s satisfying work.

If you hire me for any of these services, you will not come away thinking your work is crap. You’ll learn 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 (𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑜𝑤) as well as what could be better – 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰.

My whys and hows already creep into the margin comments of my copyedits, but developmental work lets me take that further. It gives me the space to unpack what’s happening on the page, and to offer clear and practical ways forward. This is the part of my job where my inner teacher and my inner cheerleader come out – often in tandem, pompoms and all.

I’m taking bookings for March 2026 onwards. Roll up for your copyedits or your developmental support. Or, here’s a thought: why not both!
