My story: looking to the future.

#MyStory

In 1300 characters, it’s hard to fit this in! So I’ll give the edited highlights and, for a different angle to this challenge, fast forward to an imagined future, five years from now. Affirmations written in the present tense, if you will.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« My story: love English and French. Went to Keele Uni to do dual honours. Unable to go abroad for third year as my dad died and I was needed at home. Switched from French to Educational Studies. Graduated and moved to Leeds to do PGCE. Taught English round Leeds for 11 years. Moved to Morecambe. Teaching in Cumbria. Felt stressed and wanted a change. Dropped a day and began to re-train as a proofreader. Courses complete. Mental health improved. Picking up regular clients. Gradually decreasing teaching hours and increasing editing. Work is moving in the right direction and family life is good. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦

πŸ’ 2025: I have a niche: fiction editing. Two rather disparate genres, fantasy and romance; variety is pleasing. My home office is inviting, the coffee is good, the artwork on the walls is inspiring. My husband has made a name for himself in self-publishing and we have an author coaching arm to CherryEdits. We have clients locally and internationally. We have paid off our mortgage.πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰(I did say it was in my imagination!)
