Replays: past webinars and events
On Saturday 18th October 2025, Angela M. Joyce hosted Kendal Book Fair. I went along to join in the fun.
Lovely to meet all of the authors. What amazing talent we have in the county!
For more about this event, search for ‘Kendal Book Fair’ in the Cumbrian Literary Group on Facebook.
On Thursday 11th September and Friday 12th September 2025, volunteered at Morecambe Poetry Festival.
What a fantastic event. Vibrant, lively – inspiring.
See you there in 2026?
Lakeland Book of the Year 2025
On Tuesday 8th July, I mingled with writers, publishers, booksellers, and fellow editorial professionals at the Lakeland Book of the Year awards 2025. Find out more about the event here.
Variety was the order of the day, with the breadth of the publishing spectrum represented. Writers with traditional deals, small press contracts, indie setups, and those who’ve gone the self-publishing route – everyone was given an equal platform. A genuinely inclusive and celebratory event. Big congrats to William D. Shannon, winner of Book of the Year for Cumbria: 1000 Years of Maps – it’s an absolutely beautiful book, and looks fascinating.
Let’s Talk Editing

Vicky and I had a relaxed and informal chat all about editing for indie authors. We covered everything from that first contact with an editor to red flags to watch out for, the purpose of sample edits, and how to prepare your manuscript. We also explored the different types of editing, how communication between author and editor works, and what happens after an edit is complete. Along the way, we touched on skill building and self-editing too. Watch the replay here. This session will help you feel more confident about your next steps and give you a clearer understanding of what editing can do for your book.
Publishing from home – presentation
Title: “Publishing from home: Tales of a cottage industry formed in a Morecambe bungalow.” I delivered this talk to Morecambe Rotarians in February 2025. You can access the slides here:
Fantasycon

Jon and I represented Team Cronshaw at the British Fantasy Society‘s conference this year in Chester. The programme was incredible. There’s a replay of my session here.
