Here’s what I love about this email that landed in my inbox this morning.
⭐ ‘Indie author’: I’m all about the indies, and I love helping early-career authors.
📞 ‘Someone suggested I contact you’: Excellent. I love to hear from people who’ve come to me via word-of-mouth recommendations.
💬 ‘Would love to chat’: Me too. Initial conversations are so important in order to establish what’s what. Who knows yet whether we will be the right fit, but we’re not going to waste any time in finding out. We’ve booked in a phone conversation for tomorrow, so we’ll know within 24 hours whether this is something we might be able to work on together.
🔎😍 ‘Cozy mystery romance’: Oooohhhh. I’m all ears.
Screenshot shared with permission. (Which also gives me good vibes about this potential client. Much appreciated. It’s always useful to share behind-the-scenes stuff. Why? I’ll explain momentarily*)
🗓️ Let’s see what tomorrow brings. My interest is piqued.

Why would I share a screenshot of a potential client enquiry?
– To give writers an idea of the kinds of things an editor wants to know right from the word go.
– To share what floats my boat. 😃 I’m well known for editing fantasy (love it!) but I don’t think I share as often that romance is a favourite too, and cosy 🇬🇧/cozy 🇺🇲 mysteries are always so much fun to work on!
– To show you I have a contact form, and you can use it too!
