What a year!
🔢 1,048,046 words edited.
That’s 16 editing projects for 11 clients, 80% of whom were writing in British English – the other 20% American English. All projects were fiction-based, across a range of genres, with my top three genres occupying the top 3 spots – I’m mainly known for fantasy, women’s fiction, and romance.
My goal for 2024 is to change the bottom two graphics.
🔎 At present, 90% of my work involves editorial services. So, line and copy editing, proof-editing, and proofreading.
đź’¬ Just 10% of my work in 2023 was from miscellaneous author services, under which heading lies manuscript assessments, coaching, my course, and talks to writers’ groups.
In 2024, I’d like 20% of my work to involve these author services.
🔄 And that’ll mean there’s a strong possibility the word count growth chart will either level off or even decrease. But that’s okay! With 3,716,876 words edited in my Cherry Edits career thus far, I think I’ve earned my stripes. And now I’m in a position to be able to share what I’ve learnt by offering these supplementary author services.
✨ So I’m putting it out there that in 2024 I’d like:
– An edit a month. Please come to me if you’re a women’s fiction, romance, or fantasy author. I want to keep doing this work that I love. Let me help you elevate your prose.
– Regular coaching clients. Currently, this service is open to authors who have had something edited by me. Get in touch if you’ve had an edit and you’d like some follow-up support.
– Regular speaking gigs. Book me to talk to your writers’ group. I have a wealth of knowledge ready to share with you about editing, and publishing, and the indie scene.
– A manuscript assessment every other month. Come and test the water and see what your manuscript needs. This is all about identifying next steps.
